Washington, D.C.- The National Tax Limitation Committee (NTLC) has honored Congressman John Linder (GA-07) with their annual “Tax Fighter of the Year” award. The NTLC announced that Congressman Linder had earned an “A” on their Congressional Scorecard for his fiscally sound voting record in the 110th Congress.
Lewis Uhler, NTLC President, announced the presentation of the award to Linder in Washington saying, “Congressman Linder has led the battle on behalf of taxpayers to make the 2001 and 2003 tax cuts permanent, to eliminate the death tax, to kill the Alternative Minimum Tax, to eliminate the 1993 tax increase on Social Security earnings, to provide incentives for private savings, investment and job creation, and to control the growth of federal spending.”
The NTLC was established in 1975 and is a grassroots taxpayer activist organization. The organization works to limit taxes and spending and reduce the size and scope of government at all levels. Earlier in the year Linder received the “Hero of the Taxpayer” award from Americans for Tax Reform and the “Taxpayer Hero” award by the Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.
Linder said, “Throughout my tenure in Congress, alleviating the tax burden on American families has been my top priority. Our current economic crisis simply illustrates the importance of implementing fundamental tax reform that is pro-growth and pro-job creation. I have long believed that smaller government and lower taxes means greater prosperity for American families because individuals, not the government, will always know how best to spend their hard earned money.”
Uhler concluded his remarks adding, “Congressman Linder has been a major asset to taxpayers across America during his Congressional service. He has had the courage to challenge the orthodoxy of Washington spending and earmarks.”
Linder represents Georgia’s Seventh Congressional District which includes most of Gwinnett county, all of Walton and Barrow county, and a portion of Forsyth.
