News : LINDER ATTENDS FAIRTAX EVENT IN FLORIDA  [4/13/2009]

Washington, D.C. –Literally thousands of FairTax activists attended an event in Florida on Saturday, April 11, to advocate for revolutionary tax reform.  They were joined by Congressman John Linder (R-GA), author of the FairTax, who made the trip down from Georgia.

“Today, I stood with thousands of Americans who believe that this Wednesday, April 15, otherwise known as Tax Day, should be like any other Spring day.  As Tax Day approaches, we are reminded, now more than ever, of the oppressive nature of our income tax code.  By eliminating this burden and enacting the FairTax we will unleash a greater economic stimulus than any government handout could ever provide.”

Linder told the crowd that Americans deserve a “stimulus plan” that will not only offer them financial relief today, but that will help provide them and their children with a brighter future.  The FairTax, Linder said, will return to the American people the power to decide how and when they will be taxed by how and when they choose to spend their hard earned money.

“Though there are many Americans out there suffering, the current economic down turn, and a radical move toward government control by the new Administration, has invigorated Americans nationwide.  FairTax rallies are taking place everywhere; ‘Tea Parties’ have emerged in cities in every state.  These efforts are one in the same, Americans working to regain control of their freedom from an oppressive government that wields it’s heavy hand through the tax code. I believe that the fervor we will see across the nation over the next several days will serve as a wake-up call for Congress that America is ready to travel in a new direction.”

Linder also mentioned that he expected to see even larger crowds at the FairTax event taking place in Columbia, South Carolina, on April 15, where FairTax activists will be joined by several guests including Neal Boortz and Mike Huckabee.
